PASTOR’S REFLECTION FOR NOVEMBER 19, 2017
This Thursday, November 23, we celebrate the feast of Thanksgiving, when we pause to give thanks for the many blessings we have received from the Lord. In actuality, every day is a day of Thanksgiving for we live in the present and the present is a present (gift) from the Lord. We teach our school children and religious education students that the first prayer in the morning should be one of thanking the Lord for a brand new day. Our very lives are a gift from the Lord as well as all the other gifts we have, both material and spiritual. Our cup overflows with the Lord’s generosity. May the Lord bless us with the gift of gratitude for that produces joy within our hearts.
One way we can celebrate Thanksgiving is by going to Mass on this day. Our schedule will be 6:45 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. (there will not be a 9:00 a.m. Mass). At the 8:30 a.m. Mass you are welcome to bring your Thanksgiving meal bread and wine to be blessed.
A Catholic organization, Dynamic Catholic, is offering a free email program that will help you slow down and focus on what matters during the Advent season and assist you in experiencing a great Christmas. You are encouraged to sign up at https://dynamiccatholic.com/email-sign-up. Starting December 3, the first Sunday of Advent, you will receive daily emails with short inspirational videos, practical tips to incorporate into your everyday lives, and personal stories from Dynamic Catholic team members. The mission of Dynamic Catholic is to re-energize the Catholic Church in America by developing world class resources that inspire people to rediscover the genius of Catholicism. This Christmas we are providing free copies of Matthew Kelly’s book, Perfectly Yourself, to each parish family.
We are proceeding with the upgrade of our Church sound system to provide assistive listening devices. If you feel you or a loved one would benefit, please fill out an Assisted Listening System form. They can be found in the foyer.
I will be available for confession this week on Monday, November 20, from 1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
May Jesus continue to shepherd you in all of your needs.
God love you,
