PASTOR’S REFLECTION FOR JANUARY 21, 2018

Dear Parishioners,

This Monday is a day of prayer for the legal protection of unborn children. In 1973, the United States Supreme Court made it legal for the killing of children in the womb of their mothers.  Since that year, over 60 million infants have been killed…over 60 million. We need to let that number sink in. Over 60 million innocent, precious souls have been killed.  Where they were to find protection, they found pain and rejection.  We are troubled, angry and horrified when we see the killing of innocent children for example with the Sandy Hook tragedy. Those children, we see but we don’t see the children who live in the womb of their mothers.  Over 60 million…Of those who were killed, who were the ones that were gifted to help make our world a better place?  Who were the ones who would have helped eradicate disease, invent new technology to benefit the planet, or who would have been true peacemakers in our world? Over 60 million…Why are we so complacent to have this continue? We hear people should have the “right to choose” concerning having a child. What nonsense! Yes, you choose to have a sexual relationship (rape is an exception) but once one is pregnant, you cannot choose if a human being lives or dies.  We need to stop the killing. We have laws that are against killing of another and this should apply to the unborn.

Over 60 million…We believe that life begins at the moment of conception. Scripture tells us “You knit me in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13).  What will those who believe that this is not a person think when the day comes that we have empirical evidence, without any doubt, that we have undeniable proof that life begins at conception? Where is the proof today that it is not?  We are a nation tottering on destroying ourselves with not only abortion but the immorality of sodomy, adultery, and fornication. Many have arrogantly turned away from God and His commandments.  We need to repent. Over 60 million…We need to turn to God for His mercy.  We all need to repent our sinfulness. For those who have had an abortion, if you confess your sin, God will forgive.  All aborted babies are in the embrace of God, for His love is everlasting.  Let us truly be a nation that is a nation under God. Let us wake up from our slumber. Let us return to Him and live in harmony to His teaching. He came as light to dispel all darkness. May the Lord defeat the work of satan, who comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy. We see the evidence of the working of the devil. Let us, in the power of Jesus, defeat the enemy and not allow him to take over any more territory. Over 60 million…children….

We have many agencies in the state of Massachusetts that support women experiencing unplanned pregnancies and those suffering from post-abortion trauma if you or someone you know is in need. You can also provide financial assistance to these agencies by purchasing a Choose Life license plate by visiting www.chooselifemassachusetts.org or the local registry.

I will be available for confession this week on Monday, January 22, from 2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

May Jesus continue to shepherd you in all of your needs.

God love you,
