PASTOR’S REFLECTION FOR JANUARY 14, 2018
We have many different activities in this parish. One of our activities that is lesser known but one of great importance is the Praise and Worship that takes place on Monday evenings from 7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and Friday evenings from 9:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m. The purpose of Praise and Worship is to show God profound devotion, to express thanks and worship for who God is and what He does. One of the best reasons for praising God is what we read in Psalm 100. “Know that Lord, He is God; it is He who made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with Thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” The book of Psalms is a book that focuses on praising God. Some examples:
Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being praise His holy name. Psalm 103:1
I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Psalm 150:6
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits. Psalm 103:2
Give praise to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done. Psalm 105:1
These are just a few examples and there are much more in the other books of the Bible. Praise is a dress rehearsal for the eternal life of heaven. We will be caught up with all the angels and saints around the throne of God giving Him honor, glory and praise. Our lives will be totally fulfilled in the presence of eternal love.
When we praise the Lord, our eyes are only on Him. We don’t come with our needs, our concerns and our problems. We leave all behind and give our time just focusing on the Lord. We have not been educated on the prayer of praise. Praise and worship is the highest level of prayer. Come and join those who praise the Lord in word and song. You can also listen to praise music for there are many praise and worship songs. I believe that the Lord has His eyes on this parish because of our adoration program and our praise and worship. I wish to thank all the parishioners who participate in these activities.
We will be having our 2nd Grade First Communion class receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation this and next weekend. We pray for them as they experience the mercy of God in this sacrament for the first time.
I will be available for confession this week on Tuesday, January 16, from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
May Jesus continue to shepherd you in all of your needs.
God love you,
