PASTOR’S REFLECTION FOR FEBRUARY 18, 2018
We are in the Lenten season. This is a time for growing in our relationship with Jesus. We do this by focusing on areas of sin that we need to repent and change. We can then engage in activities that nurture our spirits. The Olympics are currently taking place and for athletes they spent much time in preparing for their individual events. It takes years of practice and discipline to try to win a gold medal. For us, spiritually, we are trying to gain the kingdom of heaven. It will take sacrifice, discipline and a “never give up” attitude in being faithful to our spiritual exercises. There is no greater treasure than an intimate relationship with Jesus.
As mentioned last week, here are some of the options to assist you in your Lenten journey.
- St. Joseph Parish will join all the other parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston in the “Light Is On For You” program. Priests will be available on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This program will start on February 21st and run through March 28th.
- Starting this Tuesday, February 20, we will begin a series entitled “The Footprints of God” by Stephen Ray. This series details the story of salvation from Abraham to the Apostolic Fathers. Each topic is filmed on location. We will learn of Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, Jesus, Mary, Peter, Paul and the Apostolic Fathers. Each episode is a fast-paced, entertaining biography, travel documentary, Bible study, apologetics course in church history study rolled into one remarkable adventure.
I hope you will consider participating in these opportunities to strengthen your faith this Lenten season.
May Jesus continue to shepherd you in all of your needs.
God love you,
