Pastor’s Reflection for August 9, 2015

Dear Parishioners,

These past weeks, we have seen shocking videos showing top Planned Parenthood doctors discussing and arranging the sale of aborted baby parts for research to the biotech company, Stem Express. A judge has issued a restraining order preventing the release of any more videos. Why? The following is an excerpt from Life News.com;

“Center for Medical Program President, David Daleiden, who coordinated the shocking undercover videos, explained to CNN that Stem Express has something to hide– a secret that has significant bearing on Planned Parenthood. In a meeting with their top leadership where their leadership admitted that they sometimes get fully intact fetuses shipped to their laboratory from the abortion clinics they work with and that could be prima facie evidence of born alive infants. And so that’s why they’re trying to suppress that videotape and they’re very scared of it.”

Horrendous if true. It is already a horrendous fact that we kill babies in the womb of their mothers. You hear from those favoring abortion such sanitary arguments such as, “women’s reproductive health,” and “women have a right to choose what to do with her body.” Let us look at this with some logic. If a man and a woman conceive a child, right from the moment of conception you have created a human being. In the Church we have a feast of the Immaculate Conception. Mary was conceived without sin from the first moment of her conception. This is how Mary identified herself to Bernadette at Lourdes. We begin our life and as we know our body continues to change as we age. I won’t look the same at 50 when I was 20. I don’t look the same at 75 as when I was 45. I don’t look the same at 2 yrs old as when I was 2 months old. I needed my mother to protect and nourish after I was born. If you don’t believe I am human at conception, when do I become a human being? After 3 months? What if you are wrong? Then all those babies were killed because you miscalculated. Isn’t it better to at least proceed with caution. A woman has a right to choose, choose to become pregnant or not (except in cases of rape.) Once pregnant, she has a gift of another life within her. What a blessing for the woman. A baby is not a problem or a curse. In reading Psalm 139, we read in verse 13: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” We see that it is a human being, you knit ME. Abortions invade the work of God in His work of creation.

If one still holds on to their stance of supporting abortions, then I ask you to view an ultrasound or see the results of an abortion. There you will see the reality of what is or was in the womb.

The holocaust of the killing of babies is one reason that we are bringing the judgment of God upon this country.

Assumption of Mary 2015This year, the feast of the Assumption of Mary falls on a Saturday, so it is not a holy day of obligation. You are encouraged to come to 9 a.m. Mass on August 15, to celebrate this great feast.

I will be available for confession this week on Wednesday, August 12, from 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

May Jesus continue to shepherd you in all of your needs.

God love you,
