Pentecost Praise Email ImageThe Praise and Worship group will hold a Baptism in the Spirit Seminar over the next 7 Monday evenings from 7:30pm – 8:30pm starting on April 13, 2015.

What is Baptism in the Spirit Seminar?

We all received the Holy Spirit when we were confirmed.  Receiving the Spirit is there in the bible and is very much a part of the gospel message. Baptism in the Spirit is a way of activating the Spirit that was received during confirmation.  Many people live and die in their church without learning anything about this important gift yet God the Father promises it and Jesus Christ gives it to those who seek it.

Jesus is the One who baptizes in the Spirit

John the Baptist introduced Jesus as the One who will baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire. (Matthew 3:11)  (Mark 1:8)  (Luke 3:16)  (John 1:33)

His last words before his Ascension were about baptism in the Spirit, where He calls it the promise of the Father. (Acts 1:4-8)

We see the fulfillment of this promise at the first Pentecost and at other times after that. (Acts 2:1-4)   (Acts 10:44-48)  (Acts 19:1-7)

We see it also in our day; Jesus baptizes in the Spirit when we lay hands on people and pray for them, or even before we lay hands on them but just teach people about the baptism.

What happens at baptism in the Spirit? What is it like?

The Spirit of God comes into us from within, into our spirits, and enhances the quality of our lives.

It can be like living waters welling up from within. (John 4:1-15)

The Holy Spirit comes with his gifts or charisms.

The fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, etc., can begin to be in greater evidence. (Galatians 5:22-23)

There can be healing, both inner healing and physical healing.

The Spirit can enhance a person’s prayer and give guidance and power to his life.

The outpouring of the Spirit affects people in different ways. The Spirit can cause a person to shake, cry, laugh, be unable to stand and to fall on the floor (be slain in the Spirit), or to feel stillness and peace.

A person can begin to praise God in tongues, as the Spirit gives. (Acts 2:4)

We hope that you will join us!

We hope you will consider attending our seminar and learn what gifts God the Father has in store for you.  God bless!
